A member of the Police Department shall at all
times carry his police shield and, when in uniform, display it on
his outermost garment over the left breast and, similarly, at any
other time when it is necessary for him to establish his official
identity, and shall be armed, while on duty, with a revolver of pattern
and caliber approved by the Chief of Police and/or Deputy Chief, which
shall be kept cleaned and oiled, shall be carried at all times fully
loaded in a leather holster attached to a leather belt, and at least
six extra cartridges shall be carried at all times.
